Mietta McDonald joins Parnell’s Barristers

Parnell’s Barristers is pleased to welcome Mietta McDonald to the list.

Mietta practises across all areas of criminal and quasi-criminal law and accepts briefs in trials, pleas, appeals, committals, contested hearings and bail applications in all Victorian courts.

In addition to her criminal practice, Mietta has substantial experience in coronial jurisdictions, having appeared in large and complex inquests, including as Counsel Assisting. She also appears in matters under the Serious Offenders Act 2018, Firearm Prohibition Order proceedings and intervention order matters.

Mietta has a particular interest in sports disciplinary matters and regularly appears before sporting tribunals, including acting for Australian and international cricket players.

Prior to coming to the Bar, Mietta practised as a solicitor advocate at Stary Norton Halphen, where she worked on complex criminal matters. She commenced her legal career as an associate to her Honour Judge Hannan and later worked as a Legal Policy Officer at the Magistrates’ Court of Victoria during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Mietta holds an Indictable Crime Certificate and is included on the VLA Criminal Trial Preferred Barrister List. She read with Sharon Lacy SC.
