His Honour Judge Anthony Lewis appointed as a Judge of the County Court of Victoria

Parnell’s Barristers warmly congratulates His Honour Judge Anthony Lewis on his appointment as a Judge of the County Court of Victoria.

Prior to his appointment, His Honour practised as a highly respected barrister with extensive experience across criminal law, commercial crime, proceeds of crime and occupational health and safety matters. He appeared regularly in complex criminal trials in the County and Supreme Courts, as well as in appeals before the Court of Appeal. His work also extended to coronial inquests and regulatory investigations and disciplinary proceedings.

Anthony’s appointment follows many years of service in serious criminal matters, including his work as a Victoria Legal Aid Criminal Trial preferred barrister and as an accredited specialist criminal law advocate under the Victorian Bar’s Indictable Crime Certificate program. He also brings to the bench a strong interest in human rights law and public interest issues, supported by his completion of a Master of Public and International Law at the University of Melbourne.

We congratulate Anthony on this outstanding and well-deserved appointment and wish him every success as he commences his judicial service with the County Court of Victoria.
