Tom practises primarily in criminal law, regularly appearing in jury trials and quasi-criminal proceedings such as fitness investigations and coercive hearings. Tom has a developing appellate practice, for instance:

Tom holds a Bachelor of Arts (hons) from La Trobe University, a Masters of Environment and Sustainability from Monash University, and a Bachelor of Laws (hons) from Deakin University.
He also holds an Indictable Crime Certificate and is included in Victoria Legal Aid’s Preferred Barrister List. He read with Megan Tittensor SC and his senior mentor was Julian McMahon SC.
