Thea accepts briefs to appear and advise in criminal and quasi-criminal matters, including administrative and regulatory matters.
She appears in indictable matters in the County Court and, led, in the Supreme Court. She also regularly appears in contested hearings in the Magistrates’ and Children’s Courts.
Thea is interested in the intersection between criminal law and mental illness and appears in the Mental Health Tribunal, and proceedings under the Serious Offenders Act and Crimes (Mental Impairment and Unfitness to be Tried) Act.
With a particular interest in prison and police accountability, Thea also accepts briefs in police tort matters and Coronial inquests.
Prior to coming to the bar, Thea practised as a solicitor advocate at Victoria Legal Aid and was an associate to His Honour Judge Trevor Wraight at the County Court of Victoria. During her studies of Arts/Law, Thea majored in Indigenous Studies and Criminology.
