Biography

Jessy accepts briefs in criminal law, proceeds of crime, inquest and regulatory matters.

Prior to joining the Bar, Jessy practised as a solicitor advocate at the Northern Territory Legal Aid Commission in Alice Springs. While in Northern Territory, Jessy gained extensive advocacy experience defending aboriginal clients, running contests, bail applications and pleas on a daily basis. Jessy appeared frequently in matters relating to domestic violence, aggravated burglary, sex offences, drug offences and driving offences.

Jessy also worked as a senior researcher in the criminal division of the County Court of Victoria, and as an associate to his Honour Judge Trapnell in the County Court of Victoria.

Since joining the Bar, Jessy has gained experience in defending fraud, money laundering, regulatory matters, appeals and IVOs.

Jessy has experience working with clients from diverse cultural backgrounds, especially Chinese clients. Jessy speaks fluent Mandarin. Jessy reads and writes Chinese at a professional level.

Jessy graduated with a Juris Doctor degree and a Bachelor of Arts (Criminology major) from the University of Melbourne.

Jessy read with Georgina Connelly SC and her senior mentor is Chris Carr SC.
