In 2025, Parnell’s Barristers launched our inaugural Regional CPD Conference Series: Criminal Law in Focus – a new initiative designed to connect with criminal law practitioners across Victoria and support ongoing learning through practical professional development.
Over five sessions held throughout the year, members of our Criminal Law-focused list travelled to regional centres across the state to share insights, engage in discussion and get to know the key practitioners within the broader criminal law community.
Criminal Law in Focus was built on the idea that professional development works best when it’s collaborative, conversational, and grounded in real-world practice.
The series offered:
- Relevant CPD content that reflected current legal trends and regional practice
- Opportunities to connect with colleagues and peers in a collegiate setting
- Direct engagement with members of our list and clerks, outside the formality of court

Regional Victoria is home to some of the state’s most experienced and dedicated criminal lawyers. This series aimed to support that work by creating space for knowledge-sharing and professional growth — closer to where people live and practise.
