Nisha accepts briefs in criminal law and quasi-criminal matters, including administrative law and regulatory proceedings.
Before coming to the Bar, Nisha was employed as a Senior Associate at Stary Norton Halphen Criminal Lawyers. Nisha frequently undertook her own advocacy in the Magistrates’ Court, Children’s Court and County Court, appearing in various hearings such as pleas, bail applications, contested committals, contested hearings, case conferences, serious offender and CMIA supervision order matters and intervention order proceedings.
Nisha has also appeared as junior trial counsel in the Supreme Court and junior appellate counsel in the Court of Appeal.
Nisha is experienced in a broad range of summary matters and State and Commonwealth indictable matters, including homicide, sexual offences, drug offences, white-collar crime and family violence offences. She has regularly made written applications to the Sex Offenders Register for permission to travel and suspension of reporting conditions, and to Working with Children Check Victoria (including appearing in VCAT for the hearing of WWCC applications).
Prior to working in private practice, Nisha was an Associate to the Honourable Justice Fox (then Judge Fox of the County Court) and volunteered at Fitzroy Legal Service and Flemington Kensington Community Legal Centre.
