Mietta accepts briefs in all areas of criminal and quasi-criminal law.
She appears in trials, pleas, appeals, committals, contested hearings and bail applications in all Victorian courts.
In addition to her criminal practice, Mietta has experience appearing in large coronial inquests, including as Counsel Assisting. She also appears in hearings under the Serious Offenders Act 2018, matters related to Firearm Prohibition Orders and intervention order proceedings.
Mietta has a particular interest in sports disciplinary matters and has appeared before a number of sports disciplinary tribunals, including on behalf of Australian and international cricket players.
Prior to coming to the Bar, Mietta gained experience in complex criminal matters as a solicitor advocate at Stary Norton Halphen. She commenced her legal career as an associate to her Honour Judge Hannan and worked as the Legal Policy Officer in the Magistrates’ Court of Victoria during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Mietta holds an Indictable Crime Certificate and is on the VLA Criminal Trial Preferred Barrister List.
