Biography

Kestin accepts briefs to appear and advise in criminal and quasi-criminal matters. She is an experienced advocate, with a particular knowledge of indictable crime.

Kestin is on Victoria Legal Aid’s Preferred Barrister List and holds an Indictable Crime Certificate.

Kestin represents clients in a wide range of hearings, including trials, pleas, appeals, committals and bail applications. She regularly appears in trials in the County Court and as junior counsel in the Supreme Court and the Court of Appeal.

She appears in litigation involving serious criminal allegations, including proceedings involving homicide, dangerous driving, sexual offending, complex fraud, violent offending and drug trafficking. She has particular experience in Commonwealth offending including terrorism, complex drug matters, fraud and sexual offending.

Kestin has significant experience in matters involving sexual offending, including matters involving historical sex offences and child and cognitively impaired complainants. She also has a particular interest in post-sentence applications and reviews under the Serious Offenders Act 2018.

Kestin read with Simon Moglia (now His Honour Judge Moglia of the County Court) and her senior mentor was Sally Flynn KC.
