Biography

David practises primarily in criminal law, including regulatory and quasi-criminal matters. He has experience in CMIA and Serious Offenders Act supervision order proceedings.

David has experience advising and appearing both for and against regulatory prosecuting authorities including the Victorian WorkCover Authority (WorkSafe), the Building and Plumbing Commission, the Victorian Fisheries Authority, and local municipal councils. 

Prior to joining the Bar, David was Senior Associate to his Honour Chief Judge Kidd. David assisted his Honour in his capacity as the Chief Judge of the County Court and as an Acting Justice of Appeal in the Victorian Court of Appeal. Before this, David gained broad trial and appellate experience as a solicitor in criminal law.

David has been a Casual Academic at Deakin University since 2021, where he teaches evidence and criminal procedure. He graduated with a Bachelor of Science and a Bachelor of Laws (Hons.) from Monash University in 2018.

David read with Amelia Beech and his Senior Mentor is Raelene Sharp SC (now Commonwealth DPP).
