Biography

Christin accepts briefs in all areas of criminal law and quasi-criminal law, including regulatory, administrative and public law matters. He is an experienced advocate, with particular knowledge of indictable crime. Since coming to the bar, Christin has appeared in a number of committal hearings, contested hearings, plea hearings, appeals and bail applications as well as appearing as junior counsel in a number of County Court Trials.

Immediately prior to coming to the Bar, Christin practised as a Senior Solicitor at the VGSO in the Police Branch. His practice primarily involved advising the Chief Commissioner of Victoria Police on proceedings in the Court of Appeal arising from the use of Nicola Gobbo as a police informer. He advised on claims of public interest immunity, suppression orders and statutory prohibitions on disclosure in these matters.

Prior to his position at the VGSO, Christin worked as a Senior Lawyer at Victoria Legal Aid and gained experience in a broad range of indictable criminal matters, including sexual offences, drug matters and violent offences. As a solicitor advocate Christin regularly appeared in summary, indictable and appellate matters in the Magistrates’, Children’s and County Court jurisdictions.

Christin has been selected for Victoria Legal Aid’s Trial Counsel Development Program (2022/2023).

Christin read with His Honour Judge Marcus Dempsey and Sarah Keating.
