Biography

Briana practises in criminal law and related jurisdictions, with a focus on trials and contested hearings. She appears led and unled in indictable criminal matters, including jury trials, pleas, appeals and applications, and regularly appears in contested committal proceedings and summary hearings.

Briana also accepts briefs in coronial matters and has experience appearing in coronial inquests.

Briana has particular experience in the Children’s Court. She regularly appears in the Criminal Division in indictable and contested summary matters involving children and young people. Briana also appears in the Family Division for parents and children and accepts briefs in family law parenting matters as well as in intervention order proceedings.

Prior to coming to the Bar, Briana worked across several practice areas at Victoria Legal Aid, including in the Youth Crime Team. She was associate to the Hon. Justice Hollingworth in the Supreme Court of Victoria, a senior policy officer at the Victorian Law Reform Commission, and the Criminal Division Senior Legal Registrar at the Supreme Court, where she managed the Criminal Division Registry alongside the Court’s legal and policy work.

Briana read with Sarah Keating and her senior mentor is Sally Flynn KC and is a member of the Criminal Bar Association Committee in 2026.
