Annamiek accepts briefs in all areas of criminal and quasi-criminal law.
Prior to coming to the Bar, Annamiek was a Senior Associate at Doogue + George Defence Lawyers, Melbourne. At Doogue + George, she appeared as a solicitor advocate in courts across Victoria and interstate, and developed strong skills representing clients facing serious indictable charges including sex offences, homicides, drugs cases, violence and dishonesty offences. Before joining Doogue + George, she was a Judge’s Associate at the County Court of Victoria.
Annamiek has extensive experience appearing in criminal law and Intervention Order matters in the Magistrates’ Court and County Court of Victoria. This includes contest mentions, pleas, sentence indications, contested hearings, bail applications, appeals and committal mentions.
She has a particular interest in firearms matters, with experience in s 189 applications (application to be deemed non-prohibited under the Firearms Act 1996 (Vic)) and submissions to Victoria Police regarding individual firearms licences.
Annamiek has also assisted clients with written submissions to regulatory bodies, for example Working with Children Checks, AHPRA, the Veterinary Practitioners Registration Board, Victorian Institute of Teaching, Victorian Gambling and Casino Control Commission, and Victoria Police.
